Skip Stewart is an Aerobatic Champion,
has won several Gold medal in regional competition,
and has been awarded two Pitts Trophies!
"Competition Aerobatics is a great way to learn
decipline and precision. But, while a great competition
pilot can make most difficult maneuver look easy,
a great showman can make it look impossible.
This is what the fans find entertaining!" says
Skip.

Special S-2S Prometheus |
|
Skip's plane is not an aerobatic
trainer or airplane designed for competition aerobatics.
It was custom built for a single purpose - Airshows
!
Skip completely disassembled his Pitts S-2S and rebuilt
it to specifications unique to his flying style.
The fuselage has been strengthened and fitted with
new wings, designed by Scheunemann Aviation Products,
to handle the high G loads imposed during his routine.
All the control surfaces have been enlarged to make
Skip's unique maneuvers possible.
The engine was replaced by a highly modified, 550
cubic inch powerhouse built by AvWorks Custom Engines
and Components.
All these modifications together with the huge, wide-chord
Whirlwind 400C propeller, make for an airplane that
is almost as much fun to watch as it is for Skip to
fly!

The soon to be completed chase -plane is a collaboration
of many sponsors and friends.
Skip welded the fuselage himself and built the wings,
with C.J.'s assistance, from jigs provided by Scheunemann
Aviation Products.
The engine is a slightly modified 175 hp, 320 cubic
inch unit provided by AvWorks Custom Engines and Accessories.
Up front is a smaller version of the three-blade, constant-speed,
WhirlWind propeller found on Prometheus.
An electronic flight information system and autopilot
from Blue Mountain Avionics, together with analog instrumentation
provided by Blue Angel Aviation, MicroAir Avionics radios,
and a Grand Rapids Technologies Engine Information System
finish out the panel.
Brian Alley from Carbon Fiber Composites made the cowling,
wheel pants, instrument panel, and fuel tank. A very
special thanks goes to Aero Craft Parts for the many
parts and accessories they have provided.
The result of this collaboration will be a two-place,
200mph, chase-plane, that will follow Prometheus to
every show bringing the various tools, poles, and supplies
necessary at each venue.
